Enchanting. I really loved the way this felt - both classical and quietly, almost feverishly, erotic. I'm especially drawn to this kind of elegant sensuality, and the Amsterdam setting only deepened that atmosphere. What I enjoyed most was the tension: the constant interplay between what is revealed and what remains unspoken. Thank you for writing.

The city

did not need to know.

The canal boats passed.

The canal air lingered.

And two people

used Amsterdam

the way cities

were always quietly built for —

to hold

what cannot be held

anywhere else.

I loved it there. I want to go back with somebody that I want to kiss like that picture shows, stay up all night and read poetry

Amsterdam becomes more than a setting here—it feels like a third presence. The cold canal air, oak door, espresso and beer, passing boats, rain and city smog all intensify the heat between the lovers. Sensual, atmospheric, and wonderfully cinematic.

Ooooo I so like doing that with environments so Thankyou

An enchanting poem and a beautiful old picture of the Oudezijds Voorburgwal in the rain with the church of St. Nicholas in the background and a piece of the Old Church on the left.

Oooooo you know Amsterdam well, I’ve never lived there but 6 glorious visits I remember well

My university had one of its main buildings very near the beginning of the canal in the picture. It is behind a gallery with bookstalls.

So sensual. Loved the way Amsterdam is deeply intertwined into the eroticscape. Water canals tracing the city, just like those fingers learning the way. 💖
